Khazen.org thanks His Eminence Patriarch Cardinal Mar Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir and Walid Beik Joumblatt who started the reconciliation between the Druze and the Maronite in 2001. Today we extend our thanks for the leadership of His eminence Patriarch Cardinal Bechara el Rai and Walid Beik Jumblatt. This reconciliation symbolize the closeness, the trust that has been built through history between all of the Christians represented by the Khazen family and the Druze represented by the Joumblatt family.
We hope this reconciliation extend within each community, cities, neighborhood and family in Lebanon. The unique trust that exists between the Khazen and the Joumblatt family is a testimony of the message that Lebanon holds to the world. This message that our beloved Pope Saint Jean-Paul II has reminded us during his visit in Lebanon: “We wish to declare before the world the importance of Lebanon, its historical mission, accomplished down the centuries. A country of many religious faiths, Lebanon has shown that these different faiths can live together in peace, brotherhood and cooperation.''
Today we are reminded of the Lebanese message: coexistence, peace, prosperity, and fraternity between communities. Our hope is to extend the closeness of the Joumblatt and Khazen family between each family in Lebanon. Most importantly we know that this closeness will lead to a prosperous Lebanon and the election of a new President as our first request.
في آب ٢٠٠١، رعى البطريرك الماروني مار نصرالله بطرس صفير وزعيم الحزب التقدّمي الاشتراكي وليد بيك جنبلاط " مصالحة الجبل التاريخية" والتي تشكّل النموذج الفريد للمصالحة، فهي وحتى اليوم لا تزال مصالحة حقيقيّة، سياسيّة، وطنيّة، عميقة.
اليوم وبعد مرور ١٥ سنة على ذكرى المصالحة، شهد قصر المختارة يوماً وطنياً للاحتفال بتدشين كنيسة سيدة الدرّ المارونيّة وهي كنيسة آل الخازن التي أسّسها لهم بشير بيك جنبلاط كي يتمكّنوا من الصلاة عند زيارتهم لقصرالمختارة. هذة العلاقة التاريخية القوية التي تربط بين العائلتين لا تزال قائمة حتّى اليوم ، فقد غصّت باحات قصر المختارة الخارجية والداخلية بعدد من الشخصيّات السياسية والدينيّة للاحتفال بإعادة ترميم الكنيسة من قبل وليد بيك جنبلاط برعاية البطريرك مار بشارة الراعي.
يتقدّم مشايخ آل الخازن بجزيل الشكر لزعيم الحزب التقدمي الاشتراكي وليد بيك جنبلاط والبطريرك الماروني على هذا الاحتفال الذي يشكل الاستمراريّة الدائمة للعلاقة المتينة التي تربط بين الطائفة الدرزية والمسيحيّة راجيين اللّه أن تتوّج قريباً بانتخاب رئيس للجمهوريّة اللبنانيّة
Some history of el khazen and joumblatt family:
Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai marked the 15th anniversary of the mountain reconciliation that brought together Christians and Druze by holding a mass to inaugurate Al-Saydeh Church (el Khazen church) in Chouf’s Mukhtara. This Church was built specifically for the Khazen family bythe generosity of Bachir Beik Joumblatt in the early 19th’s century. The purpose was to provide the Khazen family the church a place to worship during their visit to the Jumblatt family.
