by scoopempire.com — Rima Fakih, a former beauty queen who made history a decade ago by becoming the first-ever Arab-American woman to be crowned Miss USA. Rima is internationally recognized not only for her beauty but also for her determination to become a global voice to proudly represent and shed a spotlight on her beloved country, Lebanon. Today she is using her voice to deliver a strong message of empowerment to all the Arab women and youth, both in Lebanon and abroad. She’s also using her position to advocate humanitarian causes. Recently, she was appointed as a 2020 Ambassador of the Children Cancer Center in Lebanon (CCCL), in the hope that she can help CCCL raise over $500,000 to treat 10 kids this year using a crowdfunding page.
Reports say “CCCL is totally dependent on donations, with a yearly need of $15 million. To try and meet this need amid difficult economic conditions, Lebanon has recently launched the CCCL Rescue Fund, with a target of $10 million, to help it overcome the current situation and continue its lifesaving mission.” Rima is not involved in just this one charitable cause though, she’s also a full-time volunteer at Southern California’s School on Wheels, a non-profit organization that educates children in need. She’s also on the board of Best Buddies, a global organization that aims to end the isolation of 200 million individuals that suffer from intellectual and developmental disabilities. Her sense of dedication and responsibility to give back to her community has proved that Rima has the will to face any challenges with an open heart.
