Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros al-Rai arrived in the Shouf town of Mukhtara on Sunday where he met with Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt and discussed the Brih reconciliation between the Christians and Druze. “My visit [to Shouf] aims to resume the path of reconciliation between the residents of this area, particularly between the Druze and Maronite Christians. Reconciling [differences] is part of my message [as a patriarch],” Rai said, who kicked off a two-day tour to Shouf on Saturday. He also said that the Christians’ return to Brih after their displacement “is still a very sensitive [issue] that requires financial and social support.” [Link]
