BEIRUT: Eight Syrian men have been arrested near the northeastern border with Syria on suspicion of links to terrorist groups, the Lebanese Army said Tuesday.

The men were arrested Monday between the northeastern Lebanese border towns of Labweh and Arsal, according to an Army statement.

Among the detainees was one who was a confirmed member of a terrorist organization, according to the statement. He was identified as Walid Ahmad Youssef.

The other seven were believed to have links to ISIS or Nusra Front, who are currently entrenched on the outskirts of Arsal, the Army said.
