BEIRUT: Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri has blamed all political parties for the failure to elect a head of state and warned that he sees no signs of a breakthrough in the presidential vacuum, which marked its one-year anniversary Monday.
"There are no signs yet of the possibility of an agreement on electing a new president," Berri was quoted as telling visitors at his residence in Ain al-Tineh late Sunday.
“But I’m not among those who say that the election will take a long time,” he added.
Berri held all the Lebanese political parties responsible for the presidential vacuum.
“Failure in electing a new president during all that time is a failure of all the political forces and parliamentary blocs, and responsibility falls on everyone, without exception.”
