BEIRUT: Lawmakers’ decision to extend their mandate and delay parliamentary election didn’t stop one Lebanese expatriate from voting at the embassy in Kuwait, giving Finance Minister Ali Hasan Khalil the sole vote in elections that are set to officially be called off Tuesday.

On orders from Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil, the Lebanese embassies in Kuwait and Sydney are going forward with voting. Bassil cite the fact that "the draft law for the election extension would only go into effect next Tuesday" as requiring the overseas votes to go forward, Al-Akhbar reported Saturday.
