By Jessy Bains, Editor at LinkedIn News — Apple is planning to introduce its own journaling app in the next update to its iPhone operating system, The Wall Street Journal reports, part of the tech giant’s push into health and wellness. The app, code-named Jurassic, will let users log their thoughts and activities and could pull data from text messages and phone calls, according to internal documents seen by the Journal. The app would be a direct competitor to third-party apps such as Day One. Apple has been repeatedly accused of “sherlocking”: developing apps similar to those offered by smaller tech firms.
The app would come preloaded onto every iPhone with iOS17, the Journal reports; that new operating system could be released this fall. For more coverage of the tech industry, click here to subscribe to Tech Stack, a newsletter from LinkedIn News.
