by Daily star lebanon BEIRUT: National Liberal Party head Dory Chamoun Wednesday called for
presidential candidate Michel Aoun to release his medical records to
prove he is physically and mentally fit to run the country.
“If
someone wanted to sell his land and he was over 80, he is required to
provide a medical record proving he is mentally and physically healthy.
What would be the case if this person wanted to the rule the country,”
Chamoun told reporters after attending the 45th failed attempt by
Parliament to elect a new president.
When asked by a reporter
whether he was referring to Aoun, the 81-year-old founder of the Free
Patriotic Movement, he responded: “I am older than him by three years.” “This
medical record needs to prove that he is healthy enough to work at
least 10 hours a day. This needs to be put into law,” Chamoun told
reporters.
