Three people were injured on Sunday when armed people opened fire on an anti-Syrian regime protest in Tripoli’s area of Abi Samra, the National News Agency reported. “Armed people opened fire toward a protest in Tripoli injuring three people who were transferred to hospitals in the area,” the NNA said, identifying two of the victims as Zakaria Tarboulsi and Ali Al-Assaad.
Lebanese army members cordoned the area, the NNA added. Meanwhile, NOWLebanon’s correspondent reported that some citizens protested in Abi Samra against the attack.
Lebanon’s political scene is split between supporters of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime, led by Hezbollah, and the pro-Western March 14 camp.
