by saudigazette.com.sa — Saudi Gazette report BEIRUT — Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Walid Bukhari has revealed that Saudi Arabia filed an official diplomatic letter to the Lebanese foreign ministry to arrest and extradite a Saudi man who threatened the Kingdom’s embassy in Beirut last week. The Saudi ambassador called upon the competent Lebanese authorities to undertake the necessary legal procedures regarding the terrorist threat, Bukhari told reporters on Tuesday following a meeting with Lebanon’s Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi. Bukhari thanked and appreciated the Lebanese Interior Minister for his efforts, which reflected positively on the mechanism of strengthening cooperation and joint coordination between the two countries, especially in the security field. He asked the Lebanese government to translate its commitments to the Gulf states into concrete political reality, and to carry out all its duties toward preventing hostile activities against Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states, which threaten the region’s security.

Bukhari called on Lebanese security forces to continue cracking down on illicit drug smuggling to Saudi Arabia. He said: “The Kingdom has seized over 700 million narcotic pills and hundreds of kilos of hashish smuggled from or via Lebanon since 2015.”
