BEIRUT – President Michel Suleiman condemned the “cowardly” assassination of former Finance Minister Mohammad Chatah and called for further solidarity among the Lebanese. “This cowardly act, whatever the messages it carries are, will only make the Lebanese more determined to protect their country and preserve it as a space for peace, stability and dialogue in the face of the terrorists who only understand [the language] of killing and bombing,” Suleiman was quoted as saying by the National News Agency on Friday.

The president also called on Lebanese leaders and citizens to express solidarity and help towards the formation of a new government “that would take over the national responsibilities during this period.” [Link]
