He was the second person receiving a medical doctorate from the French Medical Faculty in Beirut. He has has helped and treated the poor at his own expenses. ◄ يمكن وصفي بالرجل الاجتماعي. إنني أؤمن ب"العلاقات المخلصة", وهذه كلمة مهمة بالنسبة لي, وعلاقاتي متنوعة تدخل في نطاق مختلف الطبقات الاجتماعية, فهناك ,مثلاً, أشخاص يحصرون علاقتهم بنوعية معينة من الناس أو يتعاملون مع ثقافة معينة. إما أنا , فأشبه علاقاتي مع الناس بشخص يحب الموسيقى بجميع أنواعها, كما يستطيع الانسجام مع كل نوع, على حدة.

أحب الناس, أميل إلى عشرتهم, احب الحياة الاجتماعية المتنوعة, احب الاختلاط بأشخاص متنوعي الثقافة والبيئة والعادات…

أربعة كسور في الرجل اليسرى وطعنة سكين في اليد اليسرى اضافة الى كدمات عدة في أنحاء جسده، هي حصيلة الاعتداء الذي تعرض له المحامي وليد الخازن أمام كنيسة مار يوسف في مونو من قبل مجموعة من الشبان الأكراد.

"صدى البلد" زارت الخازن في مستشفى أوتيل ديو حيث يتلقى العلاج، وروى ما حصل معه قائلا: "كانت الساعة 11:30 مساء السبت الفائت، حين ركنت سيارتي في مرآب كنيسة مار يوسف في الأشرفية، لأشارك في قداس منتصف الليل. ولدى مروري على درج الكنيسة، بدأت مجموعة من الشبان التي تتراوح أعمارهم بين 16 و 17 سنة تتلفظ بعبارات نابية. فتوجهت اليهم بالقول من المعيب التوجه بهذا الكلام. ثم قررت تركهم وشأنهم. عندها قال لهم مسؤول الأمن هذا يكفي ودعاهم باسمهم الى مغادرة المكان. حينها حاول 4 منهم دفعي، فقمت بالمثل وأوقعت هاتف أحدهم. ثم تلقيت ضربة على وجهي وأخرى على رجلي فوقعت أرضا على ظهري".

وحول اسباب هذا الاعتداء نفى الخازن وجود اسباب طائفية، أو شخصية، "كان الامر مصادفة".

وأجرى الرئيس اميل لحود اتصالا بالخازن للاطمئنان الى سلامته. وطلب من الأجهزة الأمنية المختصة العمل على كشف هوية مرتكبي الاعتداء وأسبابه.

وقال رئيس المجلس العام الماروني الوزير السابق وديع الخازن ان "الاعتداء يدل على مدى الاستهتار والفلتان الذي تشهده شوارع بيروت". واستنكر دافيد عيسى الاعتداء قائلا "ان الانتهاكات المتكررة لحرمة وقدسية دور العبادة استفزاز لمشاعر المصلين".
